It's a good idea to have Benedryl in your first aid kit for bee stings,
especially if you have stinging insects in your area. The old Girl Scout remedy
was a baking soda paste but the Benedryl will internally fight the swelling and
reduce the reaction to the sting. Obviously, do not give this to children
without parental/guardian concent. Those who are deadly allergic to stings
should have an epi-pen (I think that's how it's spelled) on them at all times
and let other people know they have it as they could die within minutes if not
administered immediately.

Good luck everyone with all the bees. I walked into one of the bathrooms of my
historic house the other day and found a swarm of bees by the window and on the
floor. They crawl into an electrical opening in the roof right above it so we
get one or two of them every now and then but never a whole swarm and we can't
figure out how the little buggers are getting in. It was also weird because it
seemed like the ones that got in were dying so we don't know if they are
diseased or a new queen moved in and caused a turf war. Stupidly, it's illegal
to kill honey bees in Maryland, so we are trying to find a non-lethal way to
deal with them. (But if they are in the house, you better believe we're going
to break out the can of Raid.)
