We use nylon gloves instead of cotton.  They are more dexterous when
handling textiles, and fit closer to the fingers.  Also, because nylon is
a filament, it does not leave fibers behind as cotton, which is a staple
(short, spun) fiber, does.  Nylon gloves come in three sizes, and are
sold in most of the basic archival supply catalogs.
