You may want to check out www.MuseumsFirst.com. The developers (two
entrepreneurs from Saratoga Springs and Rochester) are working to make "The
Total Museum Experience" - a website that allows visitors to search New York
State Museums by subject, exhibit, or geography. For example - a search for
Degas Art would produce all Museums in NYS doing a show or are focuses on
Degas. Or, search within 2 miles of XYS address to reveal all Museums in
that area. Their goal is to create a one-stop shopping place for everything
Museums within NYS (and eventually the country). No Museum pays a cent for a
listing, and the smallest historic society has the same opportunity as the
Met.

It's very recently online, but may be an interesting source. I think the
undertaking is huge and the concept is wild. Definitely worth the look (for
visitors and staff).

|Hi List,
|
|I realize this question could have endless answers, but I had
|to ask the
|experts! My husband & I will be spending a week in the City (for New
|Years!), and then we have another week to travel around. Besides the
|OBVIOUS choices (Met, MOMA, etc.), what "hidden treasures" of
|the city are
|on your "don't miss" list?
|
|I'd also love to know of other recommended stops within
|driving distance for
|our subsequent week. Ok, go crazy!
|
|Thanks in advance,
|
|Robyne
