Retail Sales Associate

The mission of The Tech Museum of Innovation is to serve as an educational
resource that engages people of all ages and backgrounds in exploring and
experiencing technologies affecting their lives, and to inspire young
people to become innovators in developing technologies of the future.

Summary
The Retail Sales Associate will perform all aspects of retail sales in the
museum store including greeting and welcoming the customer, suggestive
selling, closing the sale and accurately completing the sale on the POS
register.  The Retail Sales Associate is a part-time non-exempt position
reporting to the Store Supervisor. Multiple positions are available.

Responsibilities:
-Help customers in an enthusiastic and courteous manner.
-Use various selling techniques to increase sales.
-Accurately complete sales using the POS system according to established
procedures.
-Provide information to visitors about the museum, membership and San Jose
area as requested.
-Perform stock and housekeeping duties as directed.
-Continue to build up product knowledge that will be helpful to customers.
-Assist in merchandising efforts, displays and floor moves when directed.
-Initiate projects that aid in store operations when business is slow.
-Punctual and adhere to schedule set by Store Supervisor.
-Maintain store appearance and organization of merchandise.
-Work independently with minimum supervision.
-Attend and participate in staff meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:
-Previous retail sales and/or customer service experience desired.
-Positive attitude and enthusiasm for dealing with the public and
especially children.
-Excellent communication skills, English proficiency and professional phone
manner.
-Familiarity with point of sale systems.
-Accurate and detail oriented with paperwork and numbers.
-Dependable, prompt and flexible to museum's needs.
-Ability to stand for extended periods, bend and lift repeatedly.
-Willingness to work on weekends, holidays and evenings.

Hours:  20 - 25 hours per week

Salary:  $8.00 - $10.00 per hour
