 I'll bet you will receive good advice from the folks at the Rosicrucian
Egyptian Museum in San Jose, CA: (http://www.egyptianmuseum.org/)
They have several mummies, not to mention the Tour of the Tomb, various
mummified cats (sacred word for cat in A.E.: "meow")and lots of
programs.
 I notice they have a Junior Archaeologist program, but they've always
been attentive to children. I can testify that it's a great place for
kids and adults.
