Mr. Smeed,

Your post has been received and perused (briefly).

The proposed JM "environmental site" sounds akin to naming the lake behind
Glen Canyon Dam Lake Powell. What an insult to the memory of a great
conservationist (as well as an insult to the intelligence and
sensibilities of today's conservationists).

I live in Virginia where the state is imposing a new Disney theme park
that will dramatically change the character of a rural area (only a few
miles from a National Battlefield). The locals are for it, however,
because they see jobs and $$$. Argh!!!

As for your suggestion of using the 'Net for educational/interpretive
purposes, I think it is very appropriate. The possibilities for reaching
an international audience are excellent (and growing).

Just my 2 cents worth.

My opinions are my own. I do not represent the National Geographic
