Amen to that. It is discussions such as this one that have prompted me to
remove my address from this list several times. The last time I left was
because of the looking-for-a-job argument (which seemed to drag on for
weeks) and it took me several months before I felt that it might be worth
another try. I keep coming back because it is the only list that I know of
where museum professionals can discuss real issues and share information
related to their profession. The information I obtain via the list can be
invaluable.

I'm sure no one wants to silence the opinions of other listers, but it is
probably more appropriate for arguments and personal attacks to be conducted
off-list.

Dear All:

Frankly, the blame game is getting tired - 24 hours a day on the news
AND now infecting Museum-L. Yes, I and everyone else can freely use the
delete button. But that's not the point. Messages filled with hostile
politics simply do NOT belong in this forum. Hold whatever personal
views make sense to you; but no political soap boxes here please. (As
our honorable moderators have noted, this forum is NOT intended for
political discussions unless they deal directly with museum practice or
theory.)

Try removing the "I" from your messages, and write of specific
constructive acts - LOOKING TOWARD THE FUTURE - that can help resolve
some of the material culture issues in Iraq.

Sincerely,

Jay Heuman
Visitor & Volunteer Services Coordinator
