For the query about ethnic heritage programming:

The Buffalo Historical Society has just opened "Neighbors," about immigration
and ethnic communities in Western New York. I haven't seen it, but I know
it's a major project.

The folk arts program at the Castellani Art Museum of Niagara University
(near Niagara Falls) continually does exhibitions and programs about
community traditions in Western New York--Puerto Rican, Italian-Catholic,
Polish-Catholic etc. There is a major Puerto Rico show in fall '95.

I'm sure you could obtain catalogs and other documentation from these places.
