Museum Loan Network - Temporary contract opportunity

The Museum Loan Network, located in the Boston area, is looking for a
detail-oriented person to assist the Director and work with the
Administrative Assistant from December 1998 through March 1999 while the
Program Associate is on maternity leave. MLN works with institutions
throughout the country to facilitate collection-sharing among museums.
Funded by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and The Pew Charitable
Trusts and administered by MIT's Office of the Arts, MLN has granted nearly
100 grants throughout the United States since 1996. Central to MLN's
matchmaking process is an on-line Directory containing over 3,500 objects
available for long-term loan to museums across the country. More
information about MLN can be found on its homepage at
http://loanet.mit.edu/Web/.

This temporary contract position requires an ability to work under pressure
and perform a variety of tasks. Background in communication or registration
preferable. PC computer skills are essential including familiarity with
Excel, Access or similar database, Word, and the Internet. Duties will
include MLN Directory maintenance and digitizing of images, assisting with
grant application review, preparing for upcoming Advisory and Curatorial
Ambassadors meetings, responding to general inquiries, and assisting with
the launching of a major press initiative.
