FULL TIME POSITION AT THE RUTHERFORD B. HAYES PRESIDENTIAL CENTER, FREMONT,
OHIO

DEVELOPMENT OFFICER


NATURE OF WORK

This individual serves in a revenue generating position with prescribed
financial targets. He/she will assist the Hayes Presidential Center
Trustees, Director, and Staff in setting fund raising goals and will
undertake and support activities to achieve these goals. He/she must have
the ability to communicate clearly and concisely the Center's mission,
vision, and priorities. In addition, the position assumes general
responsibility for the Development Office and works closely with the
communications officer who handles media contacts.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK

The Development Officer will assist in the planning, coordination, and
execution of  1) donor recruitment activities, including the execution of
direct mail solicitations, and special donor events; 2) marketing
activities to promote designated Hayes Presidential Center priorities and
fund raising events; 3) liaison activities with the various constituencies
of the Center; 4) conduct ongoing membership program; and 5) coordination
with the Communications office.

* Identify and contact corporate funding prospects.
* Research and meet with foundation grants officers.
* Prepare grant proposals.
* Work with staff of the Hayes Presidential Center to prepare
programs/activities for funding.
* Schedule donor visits and provide tours of HPC.
* Ability to conduct a capital campaign

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS

* Demonstrate outstanding writing skills.
* Good public speaking skills
* Possess microcomputer skills, including word processing, database
management, and spreadsheets.
* Possess basic research and on-line searching skills.
* Demonstrated inter-personal communication skills.
* Has familiarity with basic marketing principals.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must possess a M.A. in marketing and management, the liberal
arts, or a related field. Additionally, the individual should have at least
five years of experience in fund raising with considerable responsibility
and history of actual dollars raised in increasing amounts.  He/she should
also possess experience working with corporate management.
