Hi Pamela,

First of all I am sorry to learn that you have been going through the pains
of unemployment - it can be a sobering exercise !

I am a great believer in online Resumes and that is why I offer such a
service on Global Museum (Careers Section
http://www4.wave.co.nz/~jollyroger/Resume_Posting/resume_posting.html ).
This fact is not however the main point of my response.

If you have the web skills to take this approach further I would seriously
suggest you build a website for employer reference and TAILOR IT to the
market/s you are hoping to attract.

You might consider say, building one site to refer Museum employers to and
another for a different approach - tourism, arts etc. If you don't have
the software on your computer ( frontpage etc.) or don't feel confident in
this area, why not subscribe to a site such as Tripod.com that allows you to
build your home page through a simple templating process ( no technical
abilities required )

This is not just theory. I have put it in to practice myself with excellent
results. If you adopt this approach it is not only a satisfying project, it
also allows you to promote yourself and your site to prospective employers
by email rather than sending a stack of paper ( which is often only given a
cursory glance )

Might I also suggest that you use other job specific sites such as
MONSTER.COM which have templates that you can uses to add your material into
their database - these agencies have world-wide employer search functions

Hope the above gives you some support and motivation - go for it!

best wishes
Roger

> I know this was just discussed several months ago, but the museum list
archive really didn't like the search string "c.v." and listed billions of
"resume" posts.

for a position that requires a c.v. However, I have no clue what it should
look like. Does anyone have any books, websites, examples, advice to
recommend????
