If you're interested in software (much of it free and available for
download) to calculate dates and days, have a look here:

You'll find software there for several calendars, incidentally, which
could be of use - particularly if you want to correlate records from
different sources.

Astronomers tend to have calendrical algorithms and software on-hand as
well.

I should warn you against using Excel to calculate days and dates: it
doesn't handle them before ca 1900.  I once wanted to do some
calculations involving dates from the 17th century, and learned that,
amidst all the year 2000 compliance, year 1900 compliance had been
completely neglected.
