Wanted!

Museums Alberta has an exciting opportunity for an individual interested
in playing a vital role in Alberta's museum community.

The position is responsible for managing advisory service delivery
including forward planning to address museum community needs and will
report to the Executive Director.

The successful candidate will be a trained museum generalist with
management experience, hold a university degree in a relevant discipline
or equivalent post-secondary training, combined with demonstrated
experience in a range of museum functional areas.  It is particularly
important that the candidate demonstrate knowledge and competence in the
following areas:

- governance/board operations
- museum administration
- human resources
- planning
- grantsmanship

Responsibilities will include:

- project planning, management and evaluation
- site visit and workshop delivery
- counselling in standards of museum practice

Good organizational skills, excellent interpersonal communication and
writing skills, computer skills and a willingness to travel and work
weekends are also required.  A valid driver's license is necessary.
Counselling and/or customer service experience is highly recommended.

The position is offered on a one-year, renewable contract basis, with a
full benefit package.  Salary is commensurate with training and
experience.  The start date is March 15-31, 1999.
