I don't think anyone on this list would argue that point... unfortunately,
unless your City Council or another governing board of funders is
predominated by those who love history and museums, then you do have to
demonstrate value to them in terms that they will understand. We aren't
feeding starving children or building shelters for the homeless. Our mission
and goals are more complex than that, and it can be harder to see the
benefit.

In a perfect world, the value of museums would be obvious to everyone.
