From an historical standpoint, suggest you read:GENDER PERSPECTIVES: ESSAYS
ON WOMEN IN MUSEUMS. One of the 32 essays deals with women who started the
museum movement way back when. This is the proceedings from the 1990
Smithsonian seminar on GENDER PERSPECTIVES. Smithsonian Press, edited by
