Position Available - The Tech Museum of Innovation
Development Assistant

The mission of The Tech Museum of Innovation is to serve as an
educational resource that engages people of all ages and backgrounds in
exploring and experiencing technologies affecting their lives, and to
inspire young people to become innovators in developing technologies of
the future.

The Development Assistant is an exempt position reporting to the
Membership and Campaign Manager. The Development Assistant supports the
work of the Campaign Director and the Membership and Campaign Manager.
This position provides support for ongoing membership programs and
Capital Campaign activities. The primary responsibilities of the
Development Assistant are administrative duties in support of short- and
long-term fundraising campaigns. These campaigns include membership
acquisition, renewal and upgrade for the current museum and special
fundraising campaigns in anticipation of The Tech's new museum opening in 1998.

Responsibilities:
* Be knowledgeable of The Tech's mission, exhibits, programs and
long-range plans and stay current with the functioning of the entire
institution.
* Interface with Admissions systems and work closely with Admissions staff.
* Assemble Capital Campaign and membership packets and other information
for distribution and use in meetings, mailings, briefings and formal
solicitations.
* Fulfill member benefits, including preparation of membership cards,
welcome and renewal packets, and any special premiums offered.
* Perform data entry for member and donor campaigns, including recording
gifts and entering and updating constituent information.
* Coordinate and implement mailings, renewals and pledge reminders for
members and donors.
* Prepare written correspondence (follow-ups, confirmations, thank you
letters, etc.) as needed. * Prepare reports on fundraising progress.
* Reconcile cash income with the Administration Department.
* Manage volunteer assistance on member benefit fulfillment and special
projects.
* Assist other departments of The Tech in extracting mailing lists
generated from Blackbaud.
* Perform additional administrative duties to assist the Membership and
Campaign Manager, the Campaign Director and the Development Department.
* Work as a Museum Manager or Assistant Museum Manager on assigned
weekend days and holiday.

Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
* Two to three years administrative experience required. Nonprofit
experience highly preferable.
* Analytical and detail-oriented.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Windows/DOS computer systems experience required. Experience with word
 processing, spreadsheet, and database programs (Blackbaud Raiser's Edge
fundraising package preferable). Ability to learn new programs quickly
is a plus.
* Ability to work with highly confidential information in a fast-paced
environment.
* Availability for special events.
* Ability to work independently and creatively while functioning as part
of the development and overall Museum team.
* Appreciation of the educational mission of The Tech.
