DIRECTOR. Board of Directors of newly constructed Columbia Gorge Discovery
Center & Wasco County Historical Museum in The Dalles, Oregon seeks a dynamic
leader with a proven history in setting up and managing museums and
interpretive centers.

Ideal candidate must demonstrate the energy and passion to establish
operations for this new facility, hire staff, and keep the vision of land
stewardship and cultural history fresh for thousands of visitors year after
year.

The 42,000 square foot facility is on 10 acres, located on a bluff
overlooking the Columbia River. It includes 12,000 sf of exhibits, a living
history program, gift shop, theater, and archives.

Qualified candidates must have a successful record in public and private
fundraising, policy and program development, and personnel and nbon-profit
fiscal management (annual budget is $1,000,000+).

Candidate must have aptitiude and background in developing and maintaining
relationships with staff, trustees, and donors; will interface with media,
government, educational, philanthropic, and business sectors.

He/she must be creative, practical, and an excellent communicator, with
strong organizational, management, and strategic skills, and the ability to
implement plans and ideas.

Candidate will direct all activities including development, education,
collections, and administration, and lead a professional and volunteer staff.
