We have been using a Nikon Coolpix 775 for about two years and have been
very happy with its results.  We use it for all our conservation treatment
photography.  It takes good closeups/detail shots and fills in light well
with its flash.  I believe there is a newer addition to this model and I
have seen them on sale from time to time.  If you would like to visit us at
the Indiana State Museum and see the camera and it's photos please feel

We are about to digitally document our collection of 3,000+ objects.
 Can anyone recommend a digital camera, priced under $300, that would be
up to the task?  We don't necessarily require something will all the
bells and whistles, just a good-quality, relatively inexpensive camera
that will be used, primarily, for shooting full shots and details of all
the objects in our collection, and then downloading these images into
our database.

I'm looking at either the Sony DSC-P52 or Canon PowerShot A-60.
