The Louisiana State Museum in New Orleans seeks an experienced curator to be
responsible for collections relating to the history, art, and culture of the
state of Louisiana and its people.  Responsibilities include the
development, documentation, conservation, and interpretation of paintings,
works of art on paper, photographs, furniture, decorative arts, and science
and technology artifacts.  Working as part of a team, the incumbent will
play a significant role in the development of exhibitions for a new branch
museum in Baton Rouge, including developing scripts, researching objects,
and actively seeking out new acquisitions.  The position also involves
planning and development of educational programs, and working with other
collections curators on the move to a new storage facility.  For more

The successful candidate will have a thorough knowledge of curatorial
methods and techniques, and experience with exhibition planning.
Requirements are a baccalaureate degree (a master's degree is preferred) in
American history, American studies, anthropology, archaeology, art history,
cultural geography, historic preservation, history, historical geography,
museum studies, museology or fine arts, followed by three (3) years of
professional level museum curatorial experience.  Salary: $1917-$3165/mo.
