Hello Everyone,

I am relatively new to the list and have found the threads to be quite
interesting. I have followed this one closely and have another question for
the group.

I am currently a graduate student and have had discussions with faculty and
fellow students about what skills are important to be successful in the
museum field. I appreciate that the readers of this list are from various
types of museums (large, small, art, historical, etc...), but I am wondering
if you can provide me with a little insight. I realize that the "feeling"
you get from a person during an interview is as important as what abilities
they bring to the table, but I am wondering what skills are key. What
skills/abilities will make one applicant more desirable than others?

I am very interested in your opinions (both on and off list) and would be
happy to compile the results if other graduate students or museum
professionals are interested as well.

Sincerely,
Rhea Gavounas

By the way, I am aware of the job market and my prospects upon graduation,
but I have chosen to forge ahead!
