I am an old school trained graphic designer. I went to 4 years of art
school to get a degree in "commercial art"---or so they called it in the
'70s.

I had my own graphic design business here in Washington, DC in the '90s and
used
a layout program, a drawing program and a word processing program:
Adobe PageMaker, CorelDraw and MicroSoft Word.

I also used Corel Ventura for long books with detailed footnotes.

I designed and formatted many newsletters for organizations here in
Washington.

I preferred Adobe PageMaker at that time as my layout program.

I have since been working for
a printing company. We are on both platforms, the Mac and the PC.
Our pre press people can work with InDesign or Quark.

We had a project that had been designed and formatted in Publisher.

It was a nightmare but we pulled it off.

I feel that Publisher is not a program for professional designers. It
was created by MicroSoft for word processors to design and format.

Hope this helps.
