Someone recently loaned our institution a set of negatives containing "Nose
Art" images which we scanned. The collections committee is now trying to
decide the proper method for handling these kinds of items, as we will
surely be getting more and more of this. Do we accession the images?
Placing them on a CD with the other photographs. Additionally, Can we
accession these, since we were not given the negatives, and only the images
are our property? The owner can make as many images as he chooses, and we
can say nothing about it. If anyone has any thoughts on this quandary as
well as handling digital items as artifacts, I would sincerely appreciate
hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Phil Barnes
