The mission of the World Conservation Monitoring Centre (WCMC) is to provide
information services that support the conservation and sustainable use of
species and ecosystems, and to support others in the development of their own
information management services.

As part of its information service, WCMC has developed a World Wide Web
Server on Internet, with the support of the European Union and the BT
Community Support Programme. This can be accessed at:

            URL: http://www.wcmc.org.uk

WCMC works in collaboration with a wide range of organizations, and is
jointly managed by three of the foremost global agencies concerned with the
environment and nature conservation: the World Conservation Union (IUCN), the
United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the World Wide Fund for
Nature (WWF).

WCMC's presence on the World Wide Web was inaugurated by Anne Campbell,
Member of Parliament for City of Cambridge.
