Hi, Susannah,

We used to accept charge cards when we were getting a decent non-profit rate
with our bank. We don't have an admission fee, but we allowed credit cards
for all types of purchases with the exception of facility rentals.

When our bank changed their fee structure to a minimum charge of $25 a
month, or 3%, whichever was higher, we couldn't afford it anymore. The most
we ever did in credit card sales a month was $100 or so.

Since switching back to cash or check only, I haven't seen a decline in our
gift shop sales, although the gift shop has been on a general upswing over
the last couple years. Perhaps it would be even higher if we could offer
credit card.

Many stores that I frequent have minimum limits for credit card charges now
- anywhere from $5 to $10. Sometimes they will refuse to accept them under
that limit, and other times there is a small transaction fee of 25 cents or
so, to help them make up the fee. This is an idea you could try.

Hope this helps!
Erica
