So now we have to cite bibliographies? Man I'm in deep shit. Never heard of
citing the cite before. Bibliographies take a standard form, prove that I
have ever copied someone elses. Then I'll agree with this.

Ok I will get into this. If the bibliography is published somewhere it is
covered under copyright rules. Many librarians do bibliographies all the
time. Another example is if you want to use examples to show style (say a
handout for APA) you cannot use the same examples that are in their
publications because that is against copyright rules unless you cite them of
course. Just putting in another point of view. Joan Goodbody, Michigan

I'm really confused. Someone cried because you used a bibliography they
suggested in a project? When did a bibliography, something which follows a
standard form, become someone's work? So now am I being told I must seek
permission from fellow colleagues prior to using a source I read about in
their work? Man I'll never get my next book done. What if they are dead,
must I use a Ouija board? First time I heard a bibliography was a personal
source. Whoever you are let me know so I don't use your work, but feel free
to use mine, I enjoy knowing mine has been used and read....Jim

Subject: Important question -- re museum book/movie suggestions

Someone has emailed me off list and questioned whether
I have the "right" to publish on my website
"bibliographies prepared by others without their
permission."

If you have sent me a suggestion and you do not want
me to include it on my list, please let me know. I
have not saved all of your emails, since I have
transferred your suggestions to a master list, so I
cannot write to each of you for your permission. Not
to mention, many of the suggestions have been
submitted multiple times -- so whose "permission" do I
need in that case?

I was not aware that I could be violating the rights
of others by asking for your suggestions. One person
submitted a lengthy written bibliography and I have
asked her for permission to use that. It is my
feeling that suggesting one or to titles does not
constitute writing an entire "bibliography."

Just to note, BellaOnline is a completely volunteer
run site -- there is no corporation behind it, and
each editor is a volunteer.

My thought in making this list is to provide a fun
resource for people to use if they are interested in
reading and/or watching plots that involve museums.
My audience is NOT museum professionals, but the
visitors we all hope will visit our sites.

So PLEASE, if you would rather that I didn't put your
suggestion on my list, please please please let me
know that.

Thank you.
