Rather late to the discussion, however, "technology" and particularly
computer based technology in the simulator environment for pilot training
has a definite "affect" on the body, i.e.knowledge and procedural skills
aquisition. There are studies: Redding, Richard E. et al and Patricia A.
Alexander who are sources for you. I am doing research in aviation human
factor learning, aw well.
