Patricia,

You may already be aware of an archive site, which "crawls" most websites and stores copies of of the different versions it encounters each time in an archive. While this will not guarantee that you will always find every version of every page you post on your site, (especially if you tend to change content more frequently than the periodic visits of the robot,) it is a very useful historical record.

http://www.archive.org/web/web.php

Give it a try, personally, I found the experience of browsing mine and others' websites fascinating.

Best regards,

George

Subject: Digital Preservation

The advice on digital preservation for the UK is at:
http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/preservation/advice/digital.htm

It doesn't, however, include website preservation as a separate topic.

Anyone got any guidance on that? I'm particularly interested in deciding
policy on what/when to archive, and on preserving structure and format.

Cheers, and Best wishes for 2006 to all,

Pat
