John
I recently published a curriculum for the Kansas schools called The Prairie Through New Eyes - an integrated arts curriculum for Pre-K-8 focused on the tall grass prairie. We have distributed free copies to each school district in the state and are taking orders for paid copies
from many of the districts - so we must have done something right!
We worked with a school to develop the curriculum - teachers served as advisors, testers, and editors. I think this is one important factor to its success.
It is tied to the state standards - each unit has the ties printed on the front. But, when we developed the units we did not let the standards rule us. In fact, what I did was take the units when they written and looked for the ties. I think what we do in museums is often more
closely tied then we realize. The key was to bring the ties to the forefront!
I would be happy to answer other questions
