Museum-l:
The Sept, 1997 issue of Casabella (no. 648) has a two page spread of photos
of the museum under construction.  The title states that Opening Day was
supposed to be October 15th, 1997.
However, the article has no further information. I do recall that the
progress was reviewed during the last few months by several architectural
journals, so the information is out there, possibly in Avery Index.
