Primary Function of Organizational Unit:	
The Gregg Museum of Art & Design inspires creativity, innovation, and the expression of ideas by making its collections and activities freely accessible to the university, the community, and the public. The Gregg acquires and preserves a vast collection of art, craft and design relevant to the university, the community, and the state; encourages and facilitates the use of the collection for teaching, learning, research and enjoyment; creates 6-8 thought-provoking exhibitions each year, which are accompanied by educational publications produced by the museum; and facilitates critical and creative thinking, lifelong learning, and a passion for discovery through an extensive series of workshops, symposia, classes, lectures and other programs.

Essential Job Duties:	
The assistant registrar is responsible for providing assistance and support to the museum registrar. These tasks include processing acquisitions and entering data into the Museum’s collection management database.
Duties Include:
-Prepare, handle, and transport artwork, assist the art preparator.
-Prepare, pack, transport, and unpack objects.
-Assist museum registrar and preparator with loans and exhibitions including installation and deinstallation.
-Oversee digital photography and imaging of the collection.
-Help oversee interns and volunteers, teach the interns or volunteers the necessary techniques to complete projects.
-Assist the museum registrar to maintain the collection inventory.
-Catalog and house all incoming collection objects
-Physically move and manipulate artifacts of artistic and historic value.
-Work with the museum registrar to host behind-the-scenes classes, group visits, and researchers.

Other Work/Responsibilities:	
Interact with museum donors, patrons, and visitors. Work with other museum employees to mount exhibitions, special events, and educational programs. Work with the museum registrar to host behind-the-scenes classes, group visits, and researchers. Serve as a backup to the museum registrar for security of the collection and exhibitions as well as on the response team in the event of an emergency relating to the museum and/or collection.
