The Tech Museum of Innovation
Full-Time Opening
Community Relations Coordinator

The mission of The Tech Museum of Innovation is to serve as an educational
resource that engages people of all ages and backgrounds in exploring and
experiencing technologies affecting their lives, and to inspire young
people to become innovators in developing technologies of the future.

The Community Relations Coordinator is a full-time, exempt position
reporting to the Advertising and Promotions Manager, and is responsible for
establishing, building and developing relationships with community groups,
maintaining positive relationships with key community groups, doing
outreach presentations, serving as coordinator of in-house activities with
community groups and other related responsibilities.  

Responsibilities:  
· Cultivate and develop relationships with key community-based
organizations which share educational values and objectives consistent with
The Tech's mission and values.
· Maintain and develop a database of community groups.
· Make presentations to community groups about The Tech and represent the
museum at a variety of neighborhood meetings, festivals and programs within
the community.
· Suggest programmatic activities as well as marketing and other
promotional ideas to help cultivate attendance from the diverse community
both locally and regionally ensuring that The Tech serves as broad a
community as possible. 
· Working with Programs and Exhibits staff, develop an "outreach kit" of
materials which can be used to take to community meetings, festivals and
programs.  These may include bilingual informational materials, as well as
information about Volunteering and Membership.
· Develop and maintain list of outreach activities and follow-up both
internally and externally on staffing and organizing those community
programs and events.
· Work with Volunteer Department to provide advance information to
volunteers about activities, festivals and other outreach activities
requiring volunteer support and staffing.
· Coordinate and work with PR staff to ensure that local, ethnic
press/media receive calendar and other relevant press materials from The
Tech, and help to develop tailored media stories about The Tech's role in
the community.
· Provide a report on a regular basis on progress in working with community
groups
· Support the Advertising and Promotions Manager as needed.
· Assists with other Marketing Department tasks as needed/assigned.
· Work as museum's floor staff on assigned weekend days, and holidays
(approx. 7 times annually).

Requirements:
. Appropriate college degree desirable; a minimum of A.A. degree required.
. 2+ years of experience in community relations and/or experience working
with non-profit or community groups.
. Excellent verbal communication and writing skills. Demonstrated ability
to communicate with clarity and clearness.
. Proven ability to work well with people of all ages and backgrounds.
. Well organized and ability to prioritize work and variety of
responsibilities.
. Bilingual and bi-literate in Spanish required.
· Able to work in a team environment and to handle multiple tasks.
. Innovative, collaborative, friendly and committed to The Tech's mission
and values.
. Computer literate, experience with databases required.
