When I was chief curator at the Public Museum of Grand Rapids, MI, I
remember seeing a color catalog on Indian materials, including, or mainly,
beads. It would be worth contacting them to get the citation for the book.

Also, have you tried contacting the American Philosophical Society in
Philadlephia, PA? They hold a significant collection of Lewis & Clark papers
& materials.
