> Subject: Fw: Pennsylvania German Birth & Baptismal Certificates
> Date: Monday, February 16, 1998 9:42 PM

As a graduate student in American Studies at Penn State Harrisburg, I am
gathering data for my Master's project concerning Pennsylvania German
Fraktur, specifically Taufscheine (Baptismal Certificates) done for
children born in York and Adams Counties, PA. Most of the either
hand-drawn or printed, pre-lithographed certificates were done in German,
but some are in English. They were popular from before 1770 to around
1870, I am interested in the infilled information with names, dates,
pastors, and sponsors as well as in the artists, printers and scriveners.

If anyone has any York/Adams County examples in their collections, or
knows
of any elsewhere, please e-mail me: [log in to unmask]

Photocopies would be greatly appreciated. Send to:
 June Lloyd, Librarian/Archivist
 Historical Society of York County
 250 E. Market St.
York, PA 17403

  Thanks.
