I went through the program at ASU-- the Certificate in Museum Studies
provides a good basis of Museum history, theory and various aspects of
collections management, exhibit design and administrative issues all at the
graduate level. As you said, it is part of the Anthropology Department
therefore there is a definite focus on anthropological issues. However you
can work on an MA in another department while earning the Museum
Certificate if you choose. Quite a few students enroll solely for the
Certificate.

Overall the program is a good one- especially if you plan to work in the
Southwest. The department has excellent connections within the field. Every
museum opportunity I've had has been related to my involvement in the
program.
