The Museum of the City of New York has three positions available:

FULL TIME SCHOOL & PUBLIC PROGRAMS ASSISTANT
MCNY seeks a full time School & Public Programs Assistant to work a 35-hour
week, including one weekend per week, as required by program offerings.
The School & Public Program Assistant answers the main Education Department
telephone extension, schedules group visits, processes public program
contracts and payment requests, created signage, fliers, and program
brochures, facilitates physical setup for all programs, operates
audiovisual equipment as required, and evaluates audience response to all
programs.

The School & Public Programs Assistant also conducts school tours as
needed, recruits and oversees interns, recruits and oversees the work of
weekend docents, develops and conducts weekend family programs, and assists
in the organization of the annual Share the Season party and MCNY Museum
Mile festival programs, as well as periodic school holiday week programs
and weekend family days.

A college degree is required.  A background in Museum Education, Urban
History, American Studies, Public History, or related field is strongly
preferred as is practical experience in museum program planning and
implementation.  Familiarity with WordPerfect and with both IBM-comparable
and Macintosh computers is required, as well as good writing, proofreading,
and oral presentation skills.

IDEAL SITUATION FOR ART EDUCATIONAL GRADUATE STUDENTS
PAID PART-TIME POSITIONS AVAILABLE

MCNY seeks two part-time artists/educators to work 4 hours on  Fridays from
9:30am to 1:30pm, beginning in late December 1997 and running through
mid-June 1998.  Compensation is $11 - $15 per hour, commensurate with
experience.

The Museum has received a special Project Arts grant to develop guided
tours and historically significant art projects for elementary school
students.  The artists/educators will be responsible for conducting a
45-minute tour in the Museum's galleries and a one-hour hands-on workshop.
The artists/educators will also assist the Museum's School and Family
Programs Coordinator in the develop of art lesson plans for a teacher
manual.

A college degree is required.  A background in Museum or Art Education is
essential.  Applicants must have artistic experience and enjoy working with
