A couple of possibilities and solutions. Switch to Epson 360dpi inkjet
printing paper ( it is a avilable in a variety of sizes). It has less clay
coating, and may solve your delaminating problem. Sounds like you are
trying to do 'second surface mounting' without the technology required. I
doubt there is a solution for that.

To match labels to background color, we print labels on transparent media (
Epson and others make it for us with overhead projectors, so there are size
limitations.) and then paint the back with the same paint as the
background. A couple of coats are required, and there is a slight
color/value difference caused by the film. A coating of mat spray on the
surface reduces glare and reflections. Mount as usual, either directly to
the surface or on some other substrate.

As a side note, I have noticed that some batches of acrylic wall paints
tend to repell adhesives over time, while others seem to never ever want to
let go. -- no solutions other than using a mechanical connection to the
wall, as suggested by others.
