Hello,
I am a graduate student, studying cultural policy, especially interested in
museums and the public in today's social context.
I am now working for a research project on the
"collaboration of the city and cultural organizations for mutual
development"
dealing with the effect of art and museums for revitalization of the city.
Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao is I think an interesting example, as a museum
contributed to the revitalization of the city in terms of cultural
activities,
tourism, economy et al. (are there any other examples you know, both
successful and
projects with problems or failed?)

Further study on the transformation of museums, public and cultural policy
is necessary. I am still wondering how well this emerging model of cultural
policy
of public and private sectors together applied to the theory and analyzed.

If any of you suggest useful books, thesis, cases,
or persons and organizations could be referred, it would be helpful.
Any advice on this matter will be appreciated.

I hope anyone involved in or studying museums or public policy could share
opinions on the impact of art and museums on the public or the city.
Looking forward to feedback on the list or to my e-mail address below.

Thank you in advance.
iku
