The Macon County Conservation District's c. 1860 historic site, the Trobaugh-Good House (listed on the National Register in
1996), has an opening for an intern.  The intern's duties would include variable experience in the following areas:  interpretation,
volunteer management, special events planning, public relations, collections, maintenance planning, budget planning,
purchasing, administration, research for new and ongoing projects, writing for a newsletter, exhibits, and other areas as needed.
Alternating weekend duty is required.

The position is 40 hours per week for 6 months. No on-site housing is available but the site is close to the city limits of Decatur,
Illinois, a small city of 100,000 in central Illinois less than one hour east of Springfield, Illinois, and three hours south of Chicago.
The salary is $7.00/hour plus a $200 housing stipend.

Degree(s) and/or work or volunteer experience in history(especially 19th C. America), historic sites management, historic
administration, public history, historic preservation or other related fields is suggested. Applicants should send a resume, at least
two writing samples, two letters of recommendation, and official transcript(s) of undergraduate and/or graduate grades.
Deadline is April 1st. Due to website renovations it is temporarily offline but the staff welcomes questions by email or phone.
