COLLABORATIVE PLANNING FOR DIGITIZATION

The Western Council of State Librarians is sponsoring a national
conference on collaborative planning for digitization within a state.
This is NOT a technical conference but rather an overview of major issues
with a focus on how museums and libraries can come together to plan for
digitization.
The information below is on a WEB site
(http://www.aclin.org/webtele/confer.htm) that will be update as new speakers
are confirmed.

The registration fee is low.
Denver is a great city in the fall.
More collaboration means more accessible digitized resources for all.

Successful digitization projects involve much more than simply scanning
documents and mounting them on the World Wide Web. Collaborative
digitization projects hold promise and open opportunities, but they also
present complications and potential barriers to success.

Western Council of State Librarians will present a national two-day
conference designed to equip state libraries and museums with knowledge
of issues they should address in planning statewide digitization projects.

CONFERENCE PARTICIPANTS:
