Thank you to all who responded to my queries about
faux food and shelving.

I spent the past few days baking clay "desserts" in
the oven -- they are coming out reasonably realistic
and saved a lot of money for us.  As a crafter, I know
why people charge high prices for exquisite work.  But
as a museum professional, I know the limits of my
budget.
