Planting Fields Foundation is non-profit organization offering internship
opportunities for the Summer of 2008 to aid the Curatorial Department in
several different Collections Management projects dealing with our Manuscript,
Photographic, Fine Art, and Antique Furniture Collections. We are located at
the Coe Hall Mansion within the Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park
on Long Island , New York in the Town of Oyster Bay . We offer internships
for 120-150 credit hours based on the required curriculum of your course of
study and the needs of the Curatorial Department. This former estate is a 409-
acre public garden located on the north shore of Long Island that features
specimen trees, ornamental shrubs, herbaceous plantings, one acre of display
and production greenhouses, historic buildings and a 65 room Tudor revival
mansion.

Internships: Internships are available with the Curatorial Department of
Planting Fields Foundation every spring, summer, and fall semester for
undergraduate or graduate students in the following disciplines: Art History,
Museum Studies, Fine Art, Design, Anthropology, History, Education, or a
related field.

Projects include cataloguing artifacts, developing interpretive materials and
exhibits, and organizing archival materials within the Historic House mansion.
We offer credited internships where interns gain hands-on experience working
within a non-profit organization. Please be aware that this is an unpaid
position and we cannot offer housing or transportation. Please find us on our
website at www.plantingfields.org to learn more about the Historic House
Museum and grounds. If you are interested in applying, you can go to the link
that reads “Join Our Team” and fill out a Planting Fields Volunteer Application,
as well as a New York State Volunteer Application and send them by mail or e-
mail.
