I know the list has discussed the protection of copyright on images
placed on the museum's web site, but a search of the archives(A search
of images, copyright and web turns up enormous amounts of materail,
nearly as much as creationism ;-) ) turned up nothing on providing
images for use on "index" or "portal" sites. I'm talking about sites
which compile information on museums and exhibitions which visitors
can search, i.e. thegallerychannel.com . The museum where I work has
recieved several requests for images to use on these sites. It seems
to have ramifications that providing images to newspapers does not.
Has anyone developed a policy on this matter?
Are the sites monitored for their protection of the image?
Any help will be appriciated.
