The Tech Museum of Innovation
Position Available
Public Relations Associate

The mission of The Tech Museum of Innovation is to serve as an educational
resource that engages people of all ages and backgrounds in exploring and
experiencing technologies affecting their lives, and to inspire young
people to become innovators in developing technologies of the future.

The Public Relations Associate is a full-time, exempt position reporting to
the Media/Community Relations Manager, and is responsible for handling
public relations, writing press releases, maintaining the Public Relations
office, and other key media responsibilities.

Responsibilities:  
· Write calendar listings and press releases and manage mailing with
attention to deadlines of various publications.
· Maintain media and other mailing lists.
· Write media releases.
· Write scripts and keep FYI Line updated on a bi-weekly basis.
· Coordinate with web team to post press releases on web site as needed.
· Write Public Service Announcements (PSAs).
· Review and monitor web site for content accuracy and public relations
opportunities.
· Maintain weekly updates to "What's New" and "@thetech" section on web site.
· Maintain photo/clip archives.
· Submit information to city web site as needed.
· Host media on site as needed.
· Update press kit materials as needed.
· Maintain photo archives with fresh, timely images for distribution to
media as needed.
· Write Tech Museum E-News and coordinate e-mail distribution bi-weekly.
· Write and copy edit Innovations.
· Support Media/Community Relations Manager as needed.
· Assists with other Marketing Department tasks as needed/assigned.
· Work as Museum Manager or Assistant Museum Manager on assigned weekend
days and holiday.

Requirements:
· College degree required. Preferably in journalism or related experience.
· Superior verbal communication and writing skills. Demonstrated ability to
write and communicate with clarity and completeness.
· Knowledge of media needs and concerns.  
· Ability to work effectively under, and to meet deadlines.
· Able to work in a team environment and to handle multiple tasks.
· Detail oriented and ability to organize work and variety of
responsibilities.
