I'm sorry, but your query is confusing to me. Are you talking about the image files (I assume that is what you mean by "scans") themselves or the various media formats that hold the image files? If you are talking about the image files, then I must disagree with you that they would be "better" printed. Au contraire, in the very near future you will be digitizing everything that is not important as a physical object, and media are not important in most cases. I would hope that you have transferred all digital images to a central repository which has been properly backed-up. In such case you use whatever archiving system you normaly use for digital materials. The media itself has marginal value and should stay around for internal use only. Hope that helps.
