I am quite curious, Mark Friedman's post as quoted by Allan McCollumn, is
not the post that I received labeled "problematic posting". The post I
downloaded was much more appropriately worded than the rather insulting one
that Allan quoted.

Was the more flamish quotation from a private email?
Did Mark recall and edit his post?
Was Matthew White responding to the "I'm wondering if anyone else had a
problem..." post that I received or the "You had some nerve sending such a
huge attachment..." post quoted by Allan.

BTW, I am on a 28.8 modem, and I subscribe to a few other lists with
significant traffic. I was curious as I watched the download progress
indicator hang for a few (perhaps 3 or 4) minutes as to what sort of large
file was included in the 30 some odd messages in my mailbox. I did not
realize that it was Allan's attachment (I'm not to interested in art law in
NY state) until I read the "problematic" post. I do sometimes receive large
graphics or text files as attachments from my colleagues, absent finding any
of those, I just assumed that the delay had been due heavy traffic on my
server

I for one am happy to have my modem tied up for a few minutes to add a
potentially useful file to my archive. The squandering of communal bandwidth
is separate issue that sys admin.'s may feel more sensitive to. But I have
no problem with the housekeeping on my hard drive, and will simply delete
files I judge unnecessary when I need the space.
