Museum Institutes at Sagamore Speakers Announced
September 30-October 3, 2002
Limited Space still available

This year's Museum Institute at Sagamore brings a diverse group of speakers
together to focus on the topic, Vision, Mission, Market.  Speakers include
Dorothy Chen-Courtin of Harvard, MA, a marketing and management consultant
for non-profits;  Arthur Cohen, of LaPlaca Cohen, an NYC-based advertising,
branding and marketing communications company focused on reaching cultural
audiences.  LaPlaca Cohen has worked with museums including the National
Baseball Hall of Fame, the John F. Kennedy Library, the Brooklyn Museum of
Art and the Peabody Essex Museum; and Marianne Bez of Cooperstown, a
consultant who has worked on development and image building with clients
such as the Museum Association of New York, the Emerson Foundation and the
Canajoharie Library and Art Gallery.  Case study presenters include Beverly
Bridger of Great Camp Sagamore and Bruce Moseley of Oneida Community Mansion
House.

The Institute is designed as an intensive learning experience for staff from
small and mid-sized museums.
It is held at Great Camp Sagamore, one of the Adirondacks most famous great
camps and is limited to twenty participants.   There are still a limited
number of spaces available for this year's institute.  The fee, including
all lodging and materials, is $275 for those working in New York State
museums and $350 for out-of-state participants.  New York participants are
also eligible for GO grants of up to $500 to defray the cost of travel and
registration.

Additional participants will be taken in the order applications are
submitted.  Applications are available at www.upstatehistory.org.
