Not necessarily true. The George Washington University museum
studies program offers courses in non-profit fiscal management,
museum administration and managing people/managing projects. While
certainly not as specialized as an MBA, some museum studies programs
are recognizing the value of adding administration courses to their
curriculum.

Museum studies is more general in that it prepares students for
collections-based work, such as curatorial, exhibit, and collection/objects
management. Museum studies does not prepare students to administrate
things like municipal performance groups, etc., as does arts admin.
