The 36th annual conference of the Tennessee Association of Museums
will be held in Johnson City, Tennessee from March 13-15, l996.  The
conference theme is "Disaster/Hazard Preparedness:  This Can't Happen
to Us."  Keynote speaker is Dr. Michael Trinkley, Director, Chicora
Foundation, Inc., Columbia, South Carolina.  Other sessions will
feature museum educators, directors, curators and consultants from
across the state.

Participants will visit the Andrew Johnson National Historic Site and
Tusculum College in Greeneville.  A storytelling bus will provide
transportation to Jonesborough, Tennessee's oldest town and home of
the National Storytelling Association.  Opportunities will also be
provided for visits to the James H. Quillen College of Medicine
Museum, Tipton- Haynes Historic Site, East Tennessee State
University's Carroll Reece Museum and Rocky Mount Museum.
