Anita (in re your announcement below)
I will be in San Diego over the weekend of OCt 14-15 for the
ASTC conference there. Could you send me a little more info? I may
be able to stop by. (My background: PhD Tulane - Anthropology,
specializing in Mesoamerican (Maya) archaeology.)
        Thanks, Walter

> The Presidio of San Diego is considered to be the birthplace of European
> California. Founded in 1769 and abandoned in 1834, it contains the first
> location of the Mission of San Diego, the commander's house, the house of the
> governor, and the presidio chapel. The current excavation involves the North
> Wing. Over 14 rooms have been uncovered. Among the artifacts found are
> ceramics from China, Mexico, and England; pieces of military hardware; animal
> bones; plainware; and beads.
