I believe Gary Larson occasionally draws inspiration from the staff scientists
at the California Academy of Sciences, located in San Francisco's Golden Gate
Park. The Academy does some fun events based on thier relationship with him.
Their web site is http://www.calacademy.org/ or you might want to talk to
Meagan Levitan Manager of Public Relations & Community Affairs, 415/750-7295.

Also from the "museums in popular culture" file, one of my favorite quotes is
from the U.S. television show "Friends". It's spoken by a character named
Rhonda, who works as a tour guide at the American Museum of Natural History in New
York City:
"This isn't the real world, this is a museum."
